How do I sign up?
You sign up by completing the application form which you can download here. Please send your application to fmsa@fashionclash.nl before Monday the 22nd of June.

Who can sign up?
FMSA is open to designers, brands and artists with innovative and sustainable ideas from various disciplines, as long as the work is linked to the context of fashion and fashion culture. The focus is on young professionals and mid-careers, but talented students and self-taught designers are also welcome to apply.

What are the selection criteria?
FC cares about the well-being of people, animals and the planet. It’s important that your work ethics underline this.

Is there a fee for participation?
Participating in FMSA is free of charge. FC will set a compensation of € 450, - excluding VAT for each finalist. This amount is intended for e.g. presentation of the work, work book, shipping costs, travel costs, accommodation, insurance, etc.

NOTE: The compensation of €450 excl. VAT is equal for both single and a collective finalist.

Can I change my application?
No, once you submit it is not possible to change your application.

How do I know that my registration has been processed correctly?
If your registration has been processed correctly, you will receive a confirmation email. Please check your Spam Folder if you cannot find it directly in your inbox. Make sure you save this email as proof of your registration.

I have not received a confirmation email, what should I do?
You can send an email to fmsa@fashionclash.nl so we can check your registration.

Is it possible to register as a duo or a group?
Yes, this is possible. You can sign up as a single or as a collective participant. One person can fill in the form on behalf of the duo or group.

Is it possible to submit previous work?
Yes, that is possible. Make sure this is stated as previous work in your application.

Is it possible to submit future work/ work in progress?
Yes, that’s possible. FC suggests that participants who want to apply with future work send in a clear overview of the concept they are currently working on. Moodboards, sketches accompanied with clear descriptions, prototypes, material experiments and samples are very helpful for FC to understand the work.

When will you announce the finalists?
If you are a finalist of the FMSA you will be notified by e-mail in week 27 (29 June - 4 July).

Fashion Makes Sense Award Show

Can I choose my own models?
No, you cannot choose your own models. FC will create a division of models, based on the sizes provided by the finalist. It’s possible to switch models during the fitting session prior to the Fashion Makes Sense Award Show, based on availability of the models present.

What type of models does FC provide?
FC will be focusing on a more inclusive and value driven view on fashion and is looking for models/performers of any kind, shape, age, culture or place - no matter what kind of background, age or future plans. FC organizes various castings for models/ performers.

Can I decide on what hair- and make up styles I want during my presentation?You can indicate which types of hair and/or make up you do (not) prefer. FC has the right to decide upon the hair and make-up styles for all presentations since models will be shared with other finalists. FC will try to take your preferences into consideration.

My performance contains nudity, is that allowed?
Yes, that is allowed. Please mention and describe the nudity aspect in your application.

Can I pick my own music?
You can provide music to accompany your presentation. Your selected music should match with the length of your performance – no longer than 3 minutes.

NOTE: take a copy of the music file on a memory/USB stick with you to the event.

What can I expect from the interview on stage?
Every finalist will be interviewed by a moderator for approximately 3 minutes to give the audience more background information about the work. The setting of the interview will be rehearsed prior to the interview.

Fashion Makes Sense Award Exhibition

Is there an entrance fee to visit the exhibition?
Visiting the exhibition is free of charge.

Will there be an official opening of the exhibition?
No, there won’t be an official opening.

Do you provide equipment for the exhibition?
Yes, FC takes care of equipment.

Is it mandatory to be present during all the events as part of the competition?
FC prefers that each finalist is present all day during the Fashion Makes Sense Award Show on Friday the 27th of November. It is not mandatory to be present during the exhibition.

Can I visit other events during FASHIONCLASH Festival as a finalist of the FMSA?
Events may be free of charge or accessible via ticket sale (to be announced). Due to limited tickets and limited financial resources, FC cannot offer participants free access to paid events.
