FASHIONCLASH Pop-up Atelier

The FASHIONCLASH Pop-Up Atelier is an interactive and temporary workshop for young adults & teenagers (8 - 30 years) located on the third floor of Centre Céramique in Maastricht. The Pop-Up Atelier's activity program consists of creative workshops focusing on different aspects of fashion - from making fashion to raising awareness about fashion in relation to social issues. The FASHIONCLASH Pop-Up Atelier opens during Museumnacht Maastricht on Friday 19 April.

In the Pop-up Atelier you can follow various creative workshops between Friday 19 April until Sunday 9 June:

Making workshops

During the making workshop(s) you will be guided by fashion designer(s) and challenged to shape your ideas about identity and create your alter-ego by making a garment or outfit. There is room to discover different making techniques, such as sewing, handicrafts and upcycling.

Photography and video workshops

During the photography workshop you will be guided by a photographer who will teach you how to best capture your garment or outfit, made during the making workshop(s), on a (still) image. In the video workshop you will learn how to best capture your garment or outfit and the story behind it on moving images*.

Workshop dates: Video: Saturday 25 May (11:00-17:00), Photography: Sunday 26 May (11:00 - 17:00), shoot: Saturday 1 June + Sunday 2 June (11:00 - 17:00)

The final results of the workshops will be exhibited at Centre Céramique during FASHIONCLASH Festival, which will take place in Maastricht from 15-17 November 2024.

*It’s okay if you only wish to participate in the photo and/or video workshop(s). You will work with garments or outfits that were made by someone else during the making workshops.

Upcycling & Mending workshops

In this workshop(s) you will learn how to creatively breathe new life into your damaged garment. By using simple embroidery techniques (mending) and making patches, you can give your old sweater, jeans or shirt a new and longer life!

You can bring your own piece of clothing to the workshop(s), but you can also choose something from our range of clothing and textiles, collected from RD4 Reinigingsdiensten.

TexTiles: How do you see the future of Europe?

TexTiles is a community art project in which you portray your view or vision of Europe in a textile tile. The TexTiles are based on the dimensions (40 x 40 cm) of the tiles of Plein 1992, the square in front of Centre Céramique that is named after the Maastricht Treaty - officially the Treaty on European Union, which was signed on 7 February 1992 and served to establish the European Union. This, among other things, concluded the arrival of the euro as the single currency in a number of European countries. The paving of the square contains tiles with the € sign, alternating with the year 1992.

The goal is to make as many TexTiles as possible during the TextTiles workshops and eventually as much of Plein 1992 can be covered. Each textile tile represents a personal story, opinion or vision about Europe!

TexTiles is a collaboration between FASHIONCLASH, Centre Céramique, Maastricht Museum and Studio Europa.
