Luca Tichelman
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Luca Tichelman is a performer and film-maker who graduated from the Toneelacademie (Theatre Academy) in Maastricht in 2017. She aims to create a magical, absurdist world that appeals to the imagination by using minimal resources and seeks to maintain a sense of humor in serious subjects. Luca is currently a student of the master program ‘Lens-Based Media’ at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam.

‘Shirt stories’ is a series of short stories about shirts. The video plays with the idea that a shirt is not just a materialistic thing but can carry a personal story.

the metadonnas
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Conceptual body designer wholina (J.V. Bezold) and choreographer & dancer R. Morrowatian meet as ‘the metadonnas’ to create projects pivoting around the concept of the sensitive body in society. At the junction between design and movement they evoke images of desire for the body to return to its origin: embracing the notion that the ideal body is transient and eternal, they continually establish other formats to encourage the sensitization of society.

With ‘PLASMR’, the metadonnas explore the realm of AMSR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response), a booming internet trend intended to stimulate a tingling sensation spreading out from head to upper body, triggered by amplified whispers and quotidian sounds.

In the performance ‘PLASMR: anomalía’ and the video installation ‘PLASMR: bloopers’ they question the ambiguity of gesture, sound and text concerning ASMR, exploring fragility, habit, attitude, perception and imperfection. They focus on the thin line between pleasure and perversion and examine everyday movements, to them: holy rituals. Are we aware of the luxury of dressing, speaking and cleansing?

SCHUELLER DE WAAL
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

SCHUELLER DE WAAL equals fashion design duo Philipp Schueller and Rens de Waal. The label and design studio create fashion statements and capsule collections in which they express their belief in ‘Fashion as Therapy’. With their work and collaborations, Philipp and Rens aspire to develop different perspectives on fashion which allow for a refreshed optimism in creation and that catalyze change. SCHUELLER DE WAAL sees “experiment & improvisation” as the power force of fashion. Within their work they are looking to discover relevant ways of expressing this intrinsic fascination in a time where fashion needs to be re-envisioned. A critical attitude is needed to think outside the system's boundaries to find a way to create newness in whatever form or shape. ‘Seeking Design Wellbeing’ is the driving force behind SCHUELLER DE WAAL’s vision ‘Fashion as Therapy’. It resembles their exploration of their own systems and rules, contributing positively to the quality of their practice and life and to that of others and the world around them.

For the Living Exhibition SCHUELLER DE WAAL, realized ‘Litter 2.0’ in collaboration with FASHIONCLASH and CNME Maastricht. For this second iteration of their collaborative cleaning initiative, SCHUELLER DE WAAL teamed up with both local volunteers in Maastricht and volunteers at other Dutch locations. They dressed this diverse group in an eclectic range of cleaning uniforms made from the studio’s leftover fabrics, deadstock of the fashion industry and re-worked interpretations of CNME’s cleaning gear. In COVID-19 proof small groups, the volunteers headed out into their direct environment to pick up litter. The concept for the project originated from the idea of utilizing fashion as a tool to bring positive effects for a space rather than changing a location to meet the needs of a fashion show. Opposite to traditional fashion shows, which are mostly short presentations to an elite audience, ‘Litter’ is set out as a project which can be repeated in different contexts, open for people to see and participate.

‘Litter 1.0’, the first version of the project was an intervention of the Haute Couture week in Paris (France) in 2019. This collection and presentation was made possible by Creative Industries Fund NL, Mairie de Paris, PikPik
