Milan Flíček
Fashion Designer
Copenhagen, Denmark

Originating from the Czech Republic, Milan Florián Flíček has carved out a niche for himself as a textile and fashion designer with a mission – to transform the industry into a more responsible and sustainable one. Milan's journey began with a deep passion for creativity and a keen eye for detail. After graduating from the Arts University Bournemouth with an honours degree in Fashion, Flíček completed his master’s degree at the Royal Danish Academy during which he pursued an internship with Han Kjøbenhavn through which he produced and designed showpieces for Milan FW Fall 2021 and SS 2020. Following this, he founded Our Shift, a start-up dedicated to reshaping the fashion landscape.

His work combines elements of activism and repurposing as he creates purpose-driven designs, characterised by their unique pattern cutting, colourfulness, attention to detail, and a meaningful message he wants to share. Inspired by the beauty of nature and the people around him, Milan creates designs with stories that resonate far beyond the runway.

Central to Milan’s work is the motto, “Stop wasting textiles”. With a burning desire to combat waste in the fashion industry, he raises awareness for sustainability within the world of fashion. This was also conveyed in his 2022 collection STOP F****** BURNING CLOTHES, which has since been featured in Vogue Scandinavia and at the Copenhagen Fashion Week. Milan’s most recent achievement is the collaboration with Škoda Car, where waste materials are repurposed into stunning garments, a partnership set to be showcased during Zlin Design Week on May 12th.

Looking ahead, Milan envisions himself as an advocate for a better fashion industry, fighting for sustainability and ethical practices. His participation in FASHIONCLASH projects has not only provided a platform for his designs but has also facilitated invaluable connections within the industry.

Reflecting on his journey, Milan cherishes the sense of community fostered by his peers. With dreams of creating a world where fashion and sustainability are synonymous concepts, Milan remains steadfast in his commitment to making a positive impact.

As he continues to evolve as a designer, Milan aspires to further develop his skills in embroidery and tailoring. He envisions a future where repurposing takes centre stage in fashion, with Our Shift leading the charge towards a more responsible industry.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Milan holds a fun fact close to his heart – his childhood dream of becoming a firefighter evolved into a mission to extinguish the burning of clothes, earning him the nickname of a “fashion firefighter”.
