CIMO is a nonprofit organization established in 2013 and based in Zagreb, Croatia. It researches the theoretical and creative aspects of fashion and clothing as part of contemporary visual culture, focusing on local practices in relation to global fashion and academic discourse. Topics include the rise and fall of the local textile industry, working-class clothing practices, post-socialist fashion histories, and the reinvention of craft traditions.
The project ‘I'm telling you a story with a needle and thread’ consists of creative, educational, and therapeutic workshops combining traditional handwork with discussions on personal fashion memory and clothing practices. Embroidery focuses on traditional skills, especially in women’s practices, and reflects the history and contemporary relevance of local/global textile traditions. The project is presented with a wall installation of embroideries by asylum seekers and a book of embroideries by a group of local elderly women.

CIMO is een non-profitorganisatie, opgericht in 2013 en gevestigd in Zagreb, Kroatië. De organisatie onderzoekt de theoretische en creatieve aspecten van mode en kleding binnen de hedendaagse visuele cultuur, met bijzondere aandacht voor lokale praktijken in relatie tot mondiale mode en academisch discours. Onderwerpen omvatten onder andere de opkomst en ondergang van de lokale textielindustrie, kledingpraktijken van de arbeidersklasse, postsocialistische modegeschiedenis en de heruitvinding van ambachtelijke tradities.
Het project 'I'm telling you a story with a needle and thread’ bestaat uit creatieve, educatieve en therapeutische workshops waarin traditioneel handwerk wordt gecombineerd met gesprekken over persoonlijke modeherinneringen en kledingpraktijken. Het borduurwerk richt zich op traditionele vaardigheden, vooral binnen de praktijken van vrouwen, en weerspiegelt zowel de geschiedenis als de hedendaagse relevantie van lokale en wereldwijde textieltradities. Het gepresenteerde project bestaat uit borduurwerken gemaakt door asielzoekers en een boek met borduurwerken van een groep lokale oudere vrouwen.
