On the evening prior to the start of FASHIONCLASH Festival, Lumière Cinema will screen Rains Over Babel.

A bold and visually enchanting reimagining of Dante’s Inferno. In nightclub Babel – a mysterious space suspended between life and death – various characters encounter La Flaca, the personification of death. 

In Babel, mortals engage in a seductive dance with death. Dante searches for answers about his past, Monet longs to reclaim his fading body, Timbí and Uma fight for their loved ones, and Jacob prepares for his debut as a drag performer. They’re willing to trade years of their lives in exchange for truth, love, or redemption. 

Rains Over Babel unfolds in a world where gender diversity is the norm. The film weaves memories and dreams into a magical-realist universe (watch out for the talking salamander), with a raw punk edge.
