Numina

‘Numina’ is a performative installation work that allows visitors to step into an unfamiliar world, which contrasts our own, exploring themes of alienation, boundaries and intercultural and interpersonal dialogue. Encounters with a being inhabiting the installation space aim to provoke questions: should our worlds be left separate, sacred and untouched, or should we try and find a common language, no matter the outcome? Do we give in to curiosity? How entitled do we feel to other’s spaces, cultures and traditions? 'Numina' challenges visitors to wonder about the meaning of collectivity in experiencing and making art, through visual and sound design.

Alyne Li is an artist and fashion designer who graduated with a BA in Fashion Design from ArtEZ University of the Arts in 2024. She previously honed her craft as an intern with visionary designer Iris Van Herpen, an experience that deepened her interest in merging fashion with other artistic and technological disciplines.
Alyne’s practice extends beyond conventional fashion. She uses clothing as a medium to connect people with diverse fields—installation, performance, illustration, and emerging technologies—while questioning and reimagining the future of fashion. Her design process often begins with the creation of characters and worlds, drawing inspiration from game design and character design. By building the persona first, she brings garments to life as embodiments of narrative, identity, and possibility.
Through her work, Alyne seeks to expand the role of fashion from wearable objects into immersive experiences and speculative futures.
