Designer
Ede, The Netherlands
Rena Jansen is a Dutch designer whose vibrant and conceptual creations reshape traditional fashion archetypes with playful defiance and depth. Rena graduated with Honours from the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU) in 2018 and quickly made waves in the fashion world for her colorful, surreal, and thought-provoking work.
After an internship with Walter Van Beirendonck, Rena launched her own label in 2019, bringing to life a world where youth culture, contradictions, and personal storytelling collide. Her work balances naïve shapes and absurd silhouettes with serious undertones, often exploring themes like identity, love, and emotional alienation. From her “Lovesick” collection — born from teenage heartbreak and reflections on pandemic-era intimacy — to her bright, screen-printed pieces, Rena’s designs are equal parts escapist fantasy and sharp social commentary.
With a clear mission to break fashion’s boundaries, Rena encourages everyone to dress freely and authentically, pushing back against the homogenization of style in the age of social media. Her ultimate message: wear what you want, be who you are.
Rena’s standout moment came when she presented Lovesick at the 12th edition of FASHIONCLASH, having previously shown her graduation collection at Lichting 2018 during Amsterdam Fashion Week. Through FASHIONCLASH, Rena found not only a broader audience but also a community that inspired her to further explore fashion as an expressive, boundary-breaking art form.
Looking ahead, Rena dreams of growing her brand internationally and making her collections commercially available while continuing to experiment with techniques like knitting, dyeing, and even shoe-making. She envisions a world where no identity limits creativity—and where fashion lives far beyond the runway.
