Daniel van Hauten

Daniel van Hauten
Filmmaker
Aachen, 1981

Daniel first got in touch with editing as a 12-year-old student at the Berufsfachschule für Gestaltung in Germany. It was just a matter of time before he became better in animation- and video editing than his teachers. Continuing his studies at Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Maastricht he fell in love with everything that was happening from day one. He got in touch with fashion students during this first general year while he helped them to create a website or film - he received pizza or a Carnaval costume in return. A few years later, those pizzas where replaced by money and he got his first paid assignments.

His current job consists of filming and editing videos under the name of WEDOVOODOO. He enjoys that every project he works on is different and he enjoys it the most when he can work with enthusiast and motivated people. “One day I can be working on a documentary about architecture, filming on location and continue afterwards with editing a making of video of a terror beat downmusic video.” Within ten years, Daniel aims to keep on working with the same enthusiasm, surrounded by fascinating people – “I can’t imagine doing nothing, ever.”

Daniel has filmed multiple after movies for FASHIONCLASH Festival and in 2017 his first design ever was shown on the catwalk as part of the CLASH project during FASHIONCLAH FESTIVAL. To his surprise, he was immediately featured on the website of Vogue Italia. “FASHIONCLASH has helped me in various ways (…) A few years ago I had the chance to produce a fashion film for the FASHIONCLASH Film Festival - ‘The Parallel Pyramid Platform’ - which was a lot of fun, and I look back on this with great pleasure. Every year I am surprised by the way they come up with something completely new. “Fortunately, FASHIONCLASH didn’t forget how to play and keeps itself young.”
