Ferry Schiffelers

After he graduated cum laude in Fashion & Design at Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) in 2018, there has not been a moment that Ferry has not been active in the fashion industry. He has been working on various freelance assignments and a collaboration with Demure, the milliner of Amsterdam. 

“I love to design within a narrative - romantic and dramatic, based on occasions, such as marriage and mourning. The woman and all her beauty are key in my work”. 

Black is the color which has the overtone in Ferry’s work, causing him to put the focus on volume, technique and contrasting use of material. The collaboration with FASHIONCLASH and Opera Zuid Maastricht was Ferry’s first assignment after his graduation. “This especially taught me that you have to communicate to achieve the desired result. And it was the first time I was forced to work in colour – I am still having a hard time when I think about it!”  

A highlight in Ferry’s career was winning the Lichting 2018 show. “This was the moment I had been working towards to during my study at AMFI. Winning the price was the confirmation that my work matters”. In the future Ferry hopes to keep doing what makes him happy; he wants to develop this knowledge within couture techniques and aims to work in a healthy and sustainable way, surrounded by a small and dedicated team.
