Gabriel Guevara

GABRIEL GUEVARA
Designer
Mexico-city, 1986

To the question what characterizes Gabriel Guevara’s work, follows a just as characterizing answer:

“Material manifestations of energetic mutations. Shapes, spaces, and other sorts of communication”. The fact that Gabriel can not be easily labeled, proofs his versatile portfolio within the discipline of jewelry. After a short sabbatical, after finishing his studies at Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts & Design (MAFAD) in 2011, Gabriel participated, among other things, in the CLASH-project during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2014, he made jewelry and leather accessories for the collection of designer Verena Klein in 2014 and 2015 and his work was on display in THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE GOLDEN TOAD, a film by Studio Akatak. His campaign film, produced by Rob Truijen of Caramel and Marijn Vanderhijden and Miquel Steps from Strictua, was included in the FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Festival in 2017.

Gabriel is excited for the future in terms of learning new things; “such as work techniques and knowledge which I can apply in the projects I am working on. For me, jewelry is more a mentality than a discipline, so the moment I want to make a piece of jewelry (…) I will first have to do the required research and experiments to gain more knowledge.”
