MARIANNA SACHSE
Founder Jackalo
Washington DC, 1979

The idea to establish Jackalo, had been on Marianna’s mind a long time before she started working out her ideas in 2018 and launching her brand in 2019. Jackalo is a long-lasting, sustainable line of play-clothes for active kids. The brand is focused on the value of playing and letting kids be kids, unhampered by adult concerns. Marianna designs clothes that last and buys them back when they are outgrown, regardless of the condition -how cool is that?!

Marianna is very proud of the fact that she has rolled into fashion from outside the design world and that she has taught herself how to work in this industry. She ran a successful crowdfunding campaign to launch Jackalo and regularly receives great feedback from her customers.

In 10 years-time Marianna hopes to still be running Jackalo with a studio and a physical space to connect individuals and remake their outgrown garments into new ones. “Circularity is the future of fashion, and I’m excited to make Jackalo a fully circular brand.”

Marianna is one of the participants in the Business Development Program of Fashion House. “FASHIONCLASH has been a great way to connect with other makers and designers in the community, to learn from and support one another. There’s such a diversity of talent in Maastricht, and it is wonderful to have a place where that comes together. And having guidance from an expert has been wonderful!”.
