Rosanne van Wijk
Designer, performance artist
Woerden, The Netherlands

Rosanne van Wijk is a designer and performance artist from Woerden, The Netherlands. She studied Fashion Design at Artez University of the Arts in Arnhem. After graduating in 2016, she’s done a one-year residency at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. She has participated in various FASHIONCLASH events, such as Taskforce Fashion – Fashion After Flood and most recent TalentLab 2021, a collaboration between Via Zuid and Toneelgroep Maastricht.

Her daily life varies from week to week as she is regularly outdoors for her collaborative practice with artist collective ‘De Onkruidenier’. They travel to various locations in The Netherlands where they practice field work, connect with local people and collect stories for their performances.

If she’s not outdoors, you can find her in her own yellow studio in Eindhoven where she’s always busy with collecting, combining and creating colors and objects. Her creative process is inspired by openness and space to intuitively try out while not knowing yet how it’s going to play out. The message she wants to convey is focused on the importance of making space for new perspectives and associations.

Rosanne is interested in several societal topics that she incorporates into her design. In her work, she often zooms in on topics as a specific color, object, plant or organism. You can tell how it relates to its environment, what role it plays in the ecosystem and you can look at her art from many perspectives.

‘’FASHIONCLASH has always been supportive in updating me about open calls, projects and residencies, which was very helpful and brought me in touch with great collaborative projects and people. I have also experienced FASHIONCLASH as an open and encouraging platform that has a lot of trust in the people they work with.’’
