Maartje Boer and Suzanne Vaessen are responsible for running STRIKKS, a studio and lab for knitting in Maastricht. They both graduated in textile design at the Academy for Beeldende Kunsten in Maastricht - Maartje in 1998 and Suzanne in 2009. Besides their love for knitting, they have the drive and knowledge to grow to a platform that has everything to do with industrial knitting and to discover all of the possibilities of knitting.

As textile designers Maartje and Suzanne are always focused on the textile itself – from the structure and the design and how these are in proportion to the material and the final product. “We have to, because we strive to show why knitting is a technique that can be used everywhere around you, through every project or product.”

Suzanne and Maartje are proud of the cover they designed for the Orange Slice of Artifort - a chair designed by Pierre Paulin. This chair was on display at the Salone Del Mobile in Milan in 2012. “But what is most special about this, is that this is the first time our collaboration really started.” In 2017 STRIKKS won the audience award during the first edition of the Fashion Makes Sense Award with their Personalized Knitwear concept. “It shows that the audience is looking forward to a new way of buying clothes. We developed a collection of knitted garments which could be personalized via an interactive method. The award is an encouragement that we need to carry on with our concept.”

STRIKKS is one of the participants of the Business Development Program from Fashion House.
