TEUN SEUREN
Designer
Venray, 1992

Right after he graduated cum laude at Hogeschool voor Kunsten Utrecht (HKU) in 2017, Teun Seuren started his own label TEUN. Additionaly, he works as a freelance designer and in a fabric store in his current home town Hilversum - one day he is busy making curtains, the other day he is busy creating designs for Drag Queens. “Currently I am doing everything myself, because I first want to find out what the possibilities are before I dive in to it with someone else”.

Teun mainly works on menswear but plays with gender and fragility - masculinity and femininity are the central topic in his work. “What is masculine and what is feminine after all? I want to show the strength of vulnerability, show that men can also be flamboyant and feminine.” The highlight of his career so far is the collection A GOLDEN RENAISSANCE, which he presented during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2019. “This collection really put me on the map as a young designer”.

Currently Teun is busy developing himself as an artist instead of ‘just a designer’. “I would love to learn new techniques like glass blowing, gold smithing and other crafts I can implement in my work. (…) Thanks to the connections FASHIONCLASH has, I have been able to develop myself more in the field of costume design” (…) – Teun has been designing costumes for FANTASIO for Opera Zuid and for PEOPLE ON DIS PLAY, a play by students of Toneelacademie Maastricht – “These kind of projects give me a lot of energy!”

In 10 years-time, Teun hopes to work fully independent within the design profession by making costumes for regular customers and to see his clothes in exclusive stores in Amsterdam, London, Berlin and Paris.
