Meet the speakers

Helen Milne is a UK-born, Netherlands based designer/manager/researcher/sustainable fashion and textiles educator. Helen originally trained as a woven textile designer in the UK, but became quickly disillusioned by the pace and wastefulness of the fashion-textile industry. She fled to the Netherlands pre-Brexit to explore what Dutch design thinking had to offer her. Since graduating from her Masters at Design Academy Eindhoven, she has been working for New Order of Fashion, a non-profit fashion platform based in Strijp-S, Eindhoven. New Order of Fashion empowers the next generation of fashion designers to lead the charge toward a sustainable, circular and regenerative fashion industry. Recognizing that over 80% of a garment’s impact is shaped during its design, NOOF guides emerging talents to make eco-conscious choices at this crucial stage.
Helen currently holds the roles of NOOF LAB operational manager, researcher, and educational development & programming. NOOF LAB is a fashion and textile makerspace which gives people access to the tools and knowledge for considered making. NOOF works with alumni talents to dive deeply into sustainable circular and regenerative methods of research, and teach contemporary systemic thinking on circular business models, material choices, design methodologies and just futures.

Kiara Almeida Duarte (2004) has followed almost all the Design Clubs organized by STORE and is essential part of the Team. She is an assistant during the Design Clubs and runs the shop together with Eman on Saturday. Next to that she is the designer of our best sold product the 'BLOB CANDLE'.

STORE is a collective of designers and makers committed to making the creative industry accessible to a wide audience. STORE's main mission is to ensure that the next generation of designers is as diverse as the society we live and work in. They achieve this through a free educational program, in which young people from different backgrounds are put in touch with established designers. STORE organizes various public events and digital publications where they share the acquired knowledge and skills with the public. STORE has been operating in London since 2010 and since 2021 in Rotterdam.

Hassiba Lhajoui (19) is a proud inhabitant of Tilburg-Noord. She’s a catalyst for youth participation at the Noordvoerders, coach at the Youth Advisory Council and future sociologist. Hassiba believes it is important that young people can participate in developments that affect them.

Noordvoerders is a youth-led initiative dedicated to giving young people a voice in the plans for Tilburg North. They work to address issues such as poverty, unemployment, education, and health in the community through collaboration with residents to improve the neighborhood. Noordvoerders ensures that young people are actively involved in these initiatives, offering a platform for them to contribute ideas and feedback.

Safaa Bouzambou (28) handles the communication and PR at Noordvoerders. She's a storyteller, proud resident of Tilburg Noord and helped creating the website of Second Skin Tilburg, a multidisciplinary fashion project for and with young people from Tilburg-North. She developed an interest in the media world at a very young age through the IMC weekend school. At Noordvoeders Safaa is mainly concerned with communication, visual content and other editorial tasks. With this she hopes to help young people’s voice heard.

Haiko Huvenaars is a systems thinker who likes to challenge the economic status quo in a quest for sustainable societies. With a background in industrial engineering and supply chain management, he took a deep dive into the fashion industry in September 2019.  Here, he found the fashion industry to be explanatory for our take-make-waste economies and overconsumption behavior.
Discovering the circular economy and the enabling potential of digital technologies inspired him to start Candour.Digital.  This is a startup that is developing an operating system for circular fashion based on digital product passports, with a mission to accelerate the circular transformation within the fashion industry.

In parallel of his startup journey with global aspirations, he found a way to make impact on a local level as well. Textalk, therefore, is a local platform that educates and inspires citizens to nourish a more meaningful relationship with their wardrobes. The platform organizes two talkshows per year, in which different sub themes of the fashion industry are explored and experts are invited to share insights & knowledge with a diverse audience of people living in (and close to) Tilburg. With his experience on hosting these talkshows, Haiko will take the role of moderator during FASHIONCLASH Tilburg.
