Following the second edition of the FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Bootcamp that took place in April, the two winning teams started to shoot their fashion short films which were previously pitched with a budget of €5500 and under a guidance of a film maker Daniel van Hauten. With the funding and professional mentorship, the winning creatives explored the clash between fashion and film, as well as all the whole production and technicalities of a making a film.
The first team started shooting on the 9th of September with their short film “The Sneeze.” This team was created during the bootcamp and bonded over the vision of their personal and refreshingly humorous concepts coming true. Together, Yala Claessens (director), Vera van Nuenen (producer & director), and Bent Lochtenberg (creative director, & set and costume designer) transformed this idea and concept into a scenario, and gave their imaginary utopia a physical shape. With a professional film crew and actors supported by amazing assistants and artists, their conceptualization came to life.
On Monday 29 September, the FASHIONCLASH team visited the second winning team on their filming set of “HANGMAN & CO”. This film is the first collaboration between Matti Paffen (set and costume designer), Birsu Tamer (director & scenario), Hedzer Seffinga (director). Together as a diverse trio of directors, they were responsible for every aspect of making this film. From the day-planning, script writing, making of the set, costumes, budgeting, casting, production, and music & camera resourcing. The team was highly organized and presented themselves as professionals. This also was shown though their interpersonal interactions with the cast and film crew.
Even though every person from these teams comes from different background and career orientation, they found a meeting point which connected them and perfectly clashed to create one-of-a-kind fashion short films. Through this collaborative opportunity, the FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Bootcamp, young designers, artists, and filmmakers are invited to explore all the intersections and new innovative approaches towards the medium of a film.
