On Saturday 27th of February, FASHIONCLASH presented the fourth edition of the Fashion Makes Sense Award, a stimulation prize for a new generation of designers with innovative and sustainable ideas for the future of fashion.

Mathilde Rougier has won the jury prize of € 2500 and MARKO FEHER has won the public prize € 1000.
Finalists presented their work during the Fashion Makes Sense Award Show during the digital 12th edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival. This was an online event moderated by Anne-Ro Klevent Groen, marketing and communications director Fashion for Good, Editor-at-Large Sustainability Vogue Netherlands.

Jury statement
Mathilde Rougier has a method that would be not only something that could be applied to her own work but we felt it was unique because it would empower others to replicate it and to use it. The visual design is very strong not only in the garments themselves but also in the digitised tools around it. Mathilde adopted a circular approach, with a modular system and mentioned the term 'constant design circularity' and we felt that was really a stake in the stand of what the future can look like, what type of fashion would make sense. The jury felt that she also added more values to those waste materials that were used by applying surprising techniques: she looked at 3D scanning, creating an online material database, data moshing to develop silhouettes, visualised digital deterioration of materials turning them into pixels and had a really interesting approach going analogue-digital-analogue which we found really fascinating.” - on behalf of the jury panel announced by Holly Syrett
