Ida Stachura
SCANDAL DO IT YOURSELF
Ida Stachura’s designs are driven by material research and experimentation. She often begins by developing ideas through collage and sketching everyday objects, found images, or unexpected visual connections. Every garment is carefully considered, with attention to colour, playful details, and a subtle sense of irony. Above all, Stachura wants the enjoyment of making to remain visible in the final piece.
‘SCANDAL DO IT YOURSELF’ is a collection inspired by Pola Negri, the Polish silent film actress who became Hollywood’s first European superstar. As Negri was cast as an exotic vamp and “magnificent wildcat”, she understood scandal as something that could be staged, controlled, and used for
self-invention. Stachura’s collection explores her legacy through the contrast between illusion and reality by focusing on DIY and papercraft aesthetics and combining hand-drawn and printed patterns.
