Après nous

With the studio ‘’ULTRA ORA’’, Arva Bustin (ULTRA-ORA) uses their craft to approach social and political topics through a storytelling Lens. ULTRA-ORA creates Archetypes, symbolism and character-building to create a multitude of different conceptional layers to the pieces/characters. This supports a basis for the world that ULTRA-ORA envisions which uses to tell a story by means of performance or exhibitions. Besides the conceptual layer of the work, there is also attachment of a value to the craft of the work and aim to make sure that when the storytelling is absent the work still stands for itself.

‘Après Nous’ is an exploration into what a post flood society caused by climate change might look like. The collection investigates a newly emerging hierarchical structure, and the evolving interaction between humans from different social classes and their flooded environment. 
‘Distributors, Wetlanders and La CEOrenissima’ act as a metaphor for how mankind struggles to adapt to hostile conditions (and how social structures change during hardship). Either caused by nature and/or their own doing.  As a performance the questionable functionality of their clothing becomes a theatrical representation of their daily life and hidden agendas.
