Arthur Wagenaar is a designer seeking to understand morality, virtue, and the calling. Inspired by forgotten memories and stories, he attempts to find his own voice through his designs.

The collection ‘MONNIKENWERK’ explores Wagenaar’s creative process through the metaphor of monastic work: an endless cycle of creating, returning, and changing. Inspired by poets such as Hildegard von Bingen and Simone Weil, the collection reflects on creativity as a way of translating visions and inner experiences into art. 

Wagenaar sees his creative practice as his own monastery, a place where he repeatedly returns to the same questions and ideas, examining them from new perspectives each time.
