Professional jury panel consisted of Iris Ruisch (M-ODE.net), Milou van Rossum (fashion editor at NRC), Borre Akkersdijk (BYBORRE) and Olgun Aydin (Manager Supply Chain Sustainability, Puma).
Besides the presentation of the finalists’ outfits, the guests enjoyed performances by theater performer Nina Willems who presented the 'Dialogue between Fashion and Death' and a musical performance by one-to-watch artist Cousin.

Fashion Makes Sense Award 2018 Program & Finalists
Na de eerste editie van Fashion Makes Sense Award in 2017 was het duidelijk dat het thema duurzaamheid onder veel jonge ontwerpers leeft en dat zij verantwoordelijkheid willen nemen om duurzaam te ontwerpen. De aanmeldingen stroomden wederom van over de hele wereld binnen. Daarom heeft FASHIONCLASH ervoor gekozen om Fashion Makes Sense Award als project jaarlijks terug te laten komen.
FMSA is enerzijds bedoeld om veelbelovend modetalent te stimuleren om na te denken over duurzaamheid en ondersteuning te bieden in het ontwikkelen van een verantwoorde collectie en anderzijds een breed publiek bewustmaken van vraagstukken gerelateerd aan duurzaamheid.
Uit alle aanmeldingen heeft het FASHIONCLASH team 10 ontwerpers gekozen die kans maken op een prijs. De FMSA bestaat uit twee awards: de juryprijs van €2.500,- en de publieksprijs van €500,-! De winnende ontwerpers en outfits zullen tijdens het IAF Festive Fashion Dinner op 9 oktober 2018 bekend worden gemaakt en via sociaal media van FASHIONCLASH.
Dit jaar zal de uitreiking van de ‘Fashion Makes Sense Award’ plaatsvinden tijdens de 34ste IAF - World Fashion Convention Maastricht.

De uitreiking van de Fashion Makes Sense Awards 2018 vindt dit jaar plaats in het prachtige Chateau St. Gerlach tijdens een gala diner, georganiseerd door het IAF (International Apparel Federation). De artistieke invulling van deze avond zal volledig verzorgd worden door FASHIONCLASH. Naast de presentatie van de outfits van de finalisten en de uitreiking van de awards zullen de gasten gaan genieten van een interactieve performance van theater performer Nina Willems en een muzikaal intermezzo van Cousin. Tijdens deze avond zal de jury het werk van de finaisten beoordelen en uiteindelijk een winnaar kiezen. De winnaar van de publieksprijs word gekozen door de stemmen van het publiek. Men kan online via de FASHIONCLASH website en tijdens de expositie stemmen op zijn/haar favoriete outfit.
Fashion Makes Sense Award Expositie

FASHIONCLASH wilt graag dat de creaties van de deelnemende ontwerpers voor iedereen te zien zijn. Daarom vind er van 1 t/m 7 oktober 2018 een expositie van deze werken plaats in de Bijenkorf te Maastricht. Hier kan men de outfits van dichtbij bekijken, visies op duurzaamheid van de ontwerpers ontdekken en kan de bezoeker stemmen op zijn/haar favoriete outfit. Deze stemmen worden meegeteld voor de uitreiking van de publieksprijs.

Fashion Makes Sense Award 2018 - Programma & finalisten
After the first edition of the Fashion Makes Sense Award in 2017 it was clear that sustainability is a vivid topic amongst young designers and that they gladly take the responsibility for sustainable fashion design. Applications from all over the world flooded our inbox again. That is why FASHIONCLASH decided to develop Fashion Makes Sense Award further as a returning annual project.
FMSA is intended on the one hand to stimulate promising fashion talent to reflect on sustainability and to offer support in the development of a responsible collection and on the other hand to make a wide audience aware of issues related to sustainability.
Out of all the applications FASHIONCLASH has chosen 10 designers that are in the running for a prize. The FMSA consists out of two awards: the jury prize worth €2.500,- and the public prize worth €500,-! The winning designer(s) will be announced during the IAF Festive Fashion Dinner on October 9th2018 and via sociaal media from FASHIONCLASH.
This year, the Fashion Makes Sense Award will take place during the 34th IAF World Fashion Convention in Maastricht.

This year, the Fashion Makes Sense Award 2018 takes place at the exquisite Chateau St. Gerlach during a gala dinner, organized by the IAF (International Apparel Federation). FASHIONCLASH will make this a night to remember. Besides the presentation of the finalists' outfits, the guests will be enjoying an interactive performance by theater performer Nina Willems and a musical interlude by Cousin. During this night the jury will review all the participating outfits and finally choose a winner. The audience decides who will win the public prize. People can also vote for their favorite outfit online via the FASHIONCLASH website and during the exhibition.

FASHIONCLASH aims to create a broad public engagement and contribute to awareness about sustainable fashion. That is why de Bijenkorf Maastricht hosts an exhibition of all works from 1 October till the 7th 2018. Here, you can see the outfits from up-close, discover the designers' visions on sustainability and vote for your favorite outfit. These votes will determine who will win the public prize.
