New Fashion Narratives: a virtual showcase with performances and installations

New Fashion Narratives represents the current generation of designers, performers and artists who see fashion as a mission. They investigate the boundaries of their discipline, question social systems - specifically the fashion industry. With their works they move between the transdisciplinary domains of fashion, social design, visual art and investigate the relationship with the user / consumer. With this program, contemporary themes and innovative projects are introduced and thus new narratives for fashion are created.

New Fashion Narratives will be presented online in the form of a performative and interdisciplinary virtual exhibition. The production of New Fashion Narratives is created and produced in cooperation with Toneelacademie Maastricht and filmmaker Daniel van Hauten.
Winner of Kunstbende Nederland 2020, Ploen Mevis, is also part of the NFN program.

Fashion Film & Video: a program with fashion films, videos and digital fashion

In this digital era, fashion film (short film) is one of the best ways to capture a fashion narrative and to reach a wide audience via online platforms and media. Besides the fashion film genre, there has been a rise of digital fashion in recent years and additionally, many designers have been digitally presenting their new work in the form of a video or film out of necessity, because of COVID-19.

Fashion Film & Video shows a selection of film and video presentations from fashion and video makers from all over the world. This film program is on show at Lumière Cinema and online.

Open Mic Night: a theatrical evening program with performances and show.

By creating this Open Mic Night, which will take place on Saturday 27th of November, FASHIONCLASH wants to allow everyone to express themselves, but also to be in contact with other visions. Open Mic Night is aimed to create improbable encounters and to generate emotions and new narratives: an eclectic clash of visions, histories and styles of an outspoken and forward-thinking generation.

This unique comedy club inspired event is in line with the hybrid festival platform. The audience can attend online or in person (by invitation only), thanks to a live stream platform adapted specifically to the structure of the show.

Fashion Talks: moderated conversations with various speakers and festival participants
On Saturday November 27th, two talks will be hosted live and can be watched online.
The themes of the talks are: Let’s Get Phygital and Introduction to Culture.Fashion network.

Fashion Makes Sense: participation projects 'STAND-IN' and 'Off the top of my head'.

Fashion Makes Sense is the participation program of FASHIONCLASH, intended to stimulate inclusive cultural participation. Projects arising from this program are developed through collaboration between fashion designers and performing artists and are designed to actively include amateurs, semi-professionals and people who are on the sidelines of society.

For the 2021 edition, two projects are developed, ‘STAND-IN’ in Maastricht and ‘Off the top of my head’ in Tilburg Noord.

STAND-IN is a project by fashion designer Antoine Peters and theater maker Lieke Benders (Hogefronten). For STAND-IN, FASHIONCLASH works together with The Masters, an innovative social organization from Maastricht that is committed to developing differently and to people who are on the sidelines of society.

‘Off the top of my head’ is a fashion film project developed in collaboration with film maker Luca Tichelman and fashion designer Rens de Waal. The film is developed in co-creation with young people from Tilburg and shot at Verdiplein in Tilburg Noord from where FASHIONCLASH project Second Skin Tilburg is organized.
