FASHIONCLASH at SCHUNCK Museum — Passaasj Parkstad

One of FASHIONCLASH projects is featured in Passaasj Parkstad, a group exhibition at SCHUNCK Museum in Heerlen that brings together 100 artists and makers from the Parkstad and Limburg region — professional and non-professional, established and emerging, side by side.

FASHIONCLASH participates with When Do You Feel Rooted?, a co-creation work developed as part of our Decolonial Fashion Residency. The project began in June 2024, when ten fashion practitioners were invited to Maastricht for a week of conversations and exchange around the question: What does decoloniality mean in fashion in the context of the Netherlands?

During that week, the group worked together on a textile cloth produced locally by The Linen Project. After the residency, the cloth travelled — literally — with each of the participants, who invited people from their own networks to join the conversation and add to the growing artwork. Since June 2024, more than 100 people have become part of both the dialogue and the piece itself.

When Do You Feel Rooted? is not a finished object. It is an accumulation of voices, hands, and perspectives — a living textile that carries the question of belonging, heritage, and decoloniality forward through fabric and connection.

The ten participating fashion practitioners were: Agatha Prieto Jeanty, Angela Jansen, Andrea Kristic, Catta Labeij Donkersloot, Gabrielle Swart, Kenza Vandeput, Kuiyu Kang'ari, Lena Winterink, Robin Nimanong, and Tevin Blancheville.

Passaasj Parkstad is on view at SCHUNCK Museum, Heerlen from April 21 - May 17, 2026. The theme of this first edition is home — a fitting context for a work that asks where, and in whom, we find our roots.
