The Truth of the Spinning Chairs
Alper Cekinmez and Tim Dekker together explore the possibilities of their respective crafts of fine art and fashion design, focusing on blurring the lines between artistry and functionality. Their collaborations spotlight the injustices caused by the capital system.
‘The Truth of the Spinning Chairs’ is an interactive installation and musical instrument. Collectively, the audience can spin and play with the strings attached to the metal sound-box tabletop to create music, harmony, and rhythm. To expand the collective spirit, Tim created a fashion collection alongside the installation: IDK (I DO KINDA). Based on repurposed, screen-printed T-shirts and jackets filled with bells and squeaky toys, with sleeves containing attached flutes, the collection sustains a playful presence.
