Teigetje&Woelrat

Teigetje&Woelrat is a fashion studio based in Amsterdam which goes back over 50 years. Due to the uncompromising nature of their designs, their work is caught in between reality and an imaginitive alien world. It balances between tradition and experiment. 

Knitwear is at the heart of Teigetje&Woelrat's artistic practice. The studio designs and knits its own fabrics on two high tech knitting machines, then executes their own designs, if needed by hand. This makes the studio highly artisanal in nature. Knitwear is often applied in innovative ways, for example in combination with leather.

Their work is defined by it's intense colours, (abstract) flowers, straight shapes, geometrical patterns, its experimental use of material and a focus on manual labour.

The FASHIONCLASH collection of Teigetje&Woelrat dives into a world of checkered patterns, knitwear that contrasts against leather and a carnavalesque esthetic. They discover the space between contemporary design and the comedic carnaval, with bright and extravagant gestures.

All pieces are designed and executed by the four designers/makers of the studio, starting from the thread till the finishing of the pieces by hand.
