Draagbare Momenten (Wearable Moments)

Paco Teepe is a fashion artist who makes memories and heritage ‘wearable’. Where an artist creates work to hold a mirror up to society, and a fashion designer creates something to be worn in front of that mirror, Paco uses both principles of the mirror in his work. He uses clothing like paper in an archive: as a carrier of information, memory, and history. Through fashion and photography, he archives personal and often unseen stories. In doing so, he continuously asks himself: who decides what is preserved and what is therefore forgotten? What is visible and what disappears? What should be carried into the future?

This visual and spatial performance presents an artistic archive of family life. It explores the paradox of wanting to preserve a memory while knowing that it will not last. The setting centres around the familiar place of being together at home: the dining table. Here, stories are shared, arguments are fought, birthdays are celebrated, and memories are created, often without us stopping to consider them.

The performers wear foam-rubber skins. This normally hidden filling, which provides furniture with comfort and support, is now made visible in the space as ‘skin’. The inside is turned outward, making the inner world of the family visible. The flexible, responsive material contrasts with the attempt to hold moments from the past in place.
