Larissa de Jager
Redress Is Rising
Larissa is a costume designer and a graduate from Fashion Design at Gerrit Rietveld Academie working in performance art. Her methodology revolves around connection to her own body in relation to societal shifts, which is reflected in the embodiment by using upcycling.
These selected photographs in a collection ‘Redress Is Rising’ show costumes with distorted volumes presented by performers. The starting point was the universal experience of not fitting in the sizes of retail chains. This collections revolves around the topic of size charts and body positivity. By combining the age-old technique of boning with new upcycling craft, Larissa hopes to create a postmodern image. Photographs are taken by Isa Beau van Eembergen. Performers: Aissatou, Naomi, Zainab, Yahoo and Harvey.
