Anto López Espinosa x Berend Brus
We can see each other
because you turned the lights off
Bodies are made, unmade, made again, and so on. Through fashion and audiovisual repetition, Anto López Espinosa and Berend Brus construct various presences that resonate with one another, forming an experimental choir. The work reflects on the body as a material in a continuous process of construction, connection, and transformation, where image, sound, and clothing become part of its making. Rather than arriving at a fixed form, the bodies remain in a state of becoming, emerging through the accumulation of their different (yet very similar) appearances.
Anto López Espinosa is an artist working across performance, painting, video, and drawing. Their practice explores transformation and belonging. Moving between personal introspection and lived experience, their work engages with intimate image-making to reflect on the self and questions of authenticity.
Berend Brus’s practice explores the relationship between fashion, identity, and societal structures. Through material experimentation and collaboration, they approach clothing as a playground for critical reflection, where craftsmanship, contradiction, and joy become tools for questioning convention.
