HOME OF THE BEST WINES COMBINED WITH A TOUCH OF HISTORYProud sponsor of FASHIONCLASH Festival since 2016 FASHIONCLASH is honoured to team up for the second time with Thiessen Wijnkoopers during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2017. Just like fine wine, this friendship gets better with age as we’re not only treating our festival guests to the beautiful and rich flavours of Thiessen Wijnkoopers. This year we will also present an outstanding exhibition of the new generation of fashion talent from the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts & Design (MAFAD) throughout their beautiful centuries-old house in the heart of Maastricht.

LET’S CELEBRATE: 300 YEARS OF WINE EXPERIENCES At Thiessen Wijnkoopers they know their wines as we know fashion; splendid classics rub shoulders with exciting newcomers. Since 1717 they have led the way in importing quality wines from France and the rest of the world for almost 300 years. Their centuries-old property in the heart of the city is an impressive part of Maastricht’s cultural heritage. Thiessen is the place par excellence for an impressive collection of the best wines, ports and champagnes. Just a five minute walk from the Vrijthof, their beautiful historic premises are also a unique location for tastings, dinners and other gatherings. They even have their own (city) vineyard. Feel free to step inside to discover this hidden treasure and explore the magnificent wine cellars and historical premises based at Grote Gracht 18, and end with a taste of their fantastic wines. You can also experience their passion for wine at FASHIONCLASH Festival, as our glasses will be enriched with their love for wine.

MAFAD FACES TOMORROW @THIESSEN Thiessen Wijnkoopers is not only the place to be for the best wines! FASHIONCLASH ♥ PL-LINE

IMG_9963.jpg

PURE SENSE OF FASHION FRONT ROW SUPPORTER OF FASHIONCLASH FESTIVAL SINCE 2010

FASHIONCLASH is honoured to team up for the 8th time with PL-Line, Maastricht based fashion icon that supports FASHIONCLASH since the very beginning.

Just like FASHIONCLASH, PL-Line owner Léon Holla underlines this years 'Fashion Makes Sense' festival theme. "We see clothing as an extension of our personality. As our second skin, it represents who we are and how we want to the world to see us."

Specializing in men’s clothing, the first PL-Line boutique was launched by Holla in the 90s; a fashionable era with key ingredients such as grunge, heroin chic and not to mention clear lines. At the threshold of a red-hot decade, the latest PL-Line store (for both men and women) is all about high quality and avant-garde design, yet also about a new sense of luxury that is more pure and subtle. Gradually high fashion labels take center stage again, and luxury at PL-Line takes the shape of distinct pieces that are made with attention to craft.

Stylishly remixing several leading collections is also a quality found in PL-Line with for example a classic line that consists of Prada’s solid framework and Thom Brown’s or Saint Laurent’s innovative feel. Also, young and upcoming labels that are a bit more budget friendly are featured for a cool charisma that is felt in brands like Off-White by Virgil Abloh for men or Moncler, Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham for women. Two carefully put together lines for the headstrong customer are at the core of PL-Line’s collection: PL-Line Luxury Sportswear, (fresh and flamboyant) plus PL-Line Men & Women City Outfits for the exclusive, fashion vibe with the very best of the international first line collections.

The PL-Line City Outfits store also oozes a cosmopolitan feel, complimented with a gorgeous garden, open to the public on sun-drenched days. Award-winning Interior designer Maurice Mentjens also calls PL-Line a ‘shopping temple’ with an ultra modern and clean look, yet stays in tune with the details of the monumental building. It’s especially this approach that underlines the true character of every piece of clothing, accessory or the special line of evening pieces. At the same time, PL-Line celebrates its Maastricht roots by turning the spotlight on talented, young designers of the FASHIONCLASH Festival.

SENSE OF INSPIRATION The 'What to wear' question might be fashion's biggest question to Google, but when FASHIONCLASH Festival approaches, all the alarm bells tend to go off! Together with the designers, we will deliver enough inspiration on the catwalk and at the Fashion Makes Sense LAB, but fashion expert PL-Line comes to the rescue to help you rock the runway as well. With their latest FASHION(CLASH) inspiration they will tickle your senses so you can show off your personality during the festival!

Need more? Check out their 24/7 tips & tricks

AND.. don't forget to visit the beautiful PL-Line store to discover their sense of fashion, together with the amazing designs by brands like Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Balmain, Prada, Stella McCartney, Off-White, Amiri, Balenciaga,  Tom Ford and much more.

COLLABORATIVE UNIT PROJECT: FASHION MAKES SENSE IN COLLABORATION WITH STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS LONDON (UAL) – LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION

FASHIONCLASH is always looking to collaborate with future fashion talent. During the Collaborative Unit Project, we challenged the minds and creativity of the students of the University of the Arts London (UAL), London College of Fashion. FASHIONCLASH worked closely with students Caroline Zaidan, Isabelle Violet Thibault, Susanne James and Eleftheria Karipidi on the topic ‘Fashion Makes Sense’, this year’s FASHIONCLASH Festival theme. They were challenged to research the engagement between fashion and the body/senses.  And they needed to engage with the public on the issue: How can fashion (designers, consumers, and the industry) nowadays actually connect with the body and human beings instead of being just a simple aesthetic of a symbolic phenomenon?

Since fashion is such a multifaceted concept, the ways each of us understands it is quite varied, yet very relevant to the way in which we engage with the industry and the idea of fashion as a focus of study. In the zine that Isabelle, Caroline, Eleftheria and Susanne developed, they explore fashion and its relation to the senses, the psychological concept of enclothed cognition, and the ever-current issue of fashion and the body.  They will also be looking at two innovative Dutch designers who embody the theme of ‘Fashion Makes Sense’ with their unique approaches to design. With three psychology students and one journalism student, they put their minds and experiences with fashion together to form a review that explores each concept textually and visually; examining the beautiful and ugly sides of a fascinating industry.

Isabelle, Caroline, Eleftheria and Susanne: “We hope you enjoy this zine, as it was prepared and made with our unifying love of fashion and the FASHIONCLASH brand and ideology. We hope that this zine will inspire you to explore the ways in which you engage with fashion, and how in turn, fashion engages with you.”

FASHIONCLASH ♥ SANTOCCI

cocktail.jpg

THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF THE BEST LIMONCELLO: IRRESISTIBLE PURE TRADITIONProud sponsor of FASHIONCLASH Festival 2017 FASHIONCLASH is honoured to team up for the first time with Santocci during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2017. Time to introduce Santocci to you!

YELLOW IS THE NEW BLACK Limoncello, the Italian word referring to an intensely lemon-flavored liqueur. Most famously in Italy, but also very popular throughout the rest of the world. For generations, the original recipe of the irresistible, pure and traditionally produced Limoncello has been preserved and maintained. Santocci is made with love; according to a generations-old family recipe and without the addition of artificial flavours, fragrances and dyes. You can taste the purity of the lemons, selected with care and love! Santocci wants to share this particular quality with liqueur lovers worldwide. During FASHIONCLASH Festival you’re able to discover first hand why “Yellow is the new black”: experience Santocci in its purest taste or be amazed by sense tickling (cocktail) combinations. Vivere!

THE SENSE OF TRADITION Santocci has always been at the core and the tradition of Limoncello. They still use the high-quality and natural lemon peel associated with a lemon grown with love and attention. Generations ago that was the reason for mixing leftover lemon peel with precious alcohol, and that is still how Santocci thinks about it today! And they will continue to do so. Santocci Limoncello is also known for its perfect balance. The acidity of the lemon used, in combination with the sweetness of the natural sugar and the right balance of the alcohol results in a unique and distinctive smooth taste. Subtleties can also be overwhelming. That may seem contradictory, but it does describe the unique quality of Santocci Limoncello.

MMMMm…. We think it’s time to enjoy the feeling, history and tradition of Santocci. Can’t wait until FASHIONCLASH Festival? Santocci is also sold in the best liquor stores and served at the best restaurants and bars: Check it out!

#SALUTE! TO TALENT: FASHIONCLASH Festival is about celebrating fashion, creativity and talent! Together with Santocci FASHIONCLASH will put the spotlight on various designers who will be present at FASHIONCLASH Festival. SALUTE! Photo: Dutch designer Djeli de Nijs. FASHIONCLASH ♥ COFFEELOVERS

THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF YOUR PERFECT COFFEE & TEA MOMENT!Proud sponsor of FASHIONCLASH Festival since 2010 & social design project FabricAge

FASHIONCLASH is honoured to team up for the 8th time with COFFEELOVERS during the 9th edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival. AND we can also count on their support during the realisation of our first FabricAge textile design piece for the city of Maastricht in Centre Céramique. A true friend; Tickling our taste buds, empowering our senses and sharing the love for collaboration, craftsmanship, traditional values, hospitableness, and quality.

TASTE, SMELL, FEEL, …. EXPERIENCE THE LOVE! The way WE share our love for fashion, THEY share their love for coffee and coffee lovers (and vice versa!). And true to this year’s theme “Fashion Makes Sense” this affection – not only for the “black gold” but also for tea – promises to be a multi-sensory experience and can be felt, tasted, smelled, envisioned AND triggers the intellect, imagination and more. Because, why should only taste have all the fun? For every cup of coffee, specifically trained Coffeelovers baristas grind a certain amount of coffee beans provided by Maison Blanche Deal, which has been well-known in Maastricht since 1878. Upon request, they will also make you a coffee latte, and without a doubt their Coffeelovers hearts are famous!

Besides serving delicious coffees, Coffeelovers is also the place to be for scrumptious muffins, mouth-watering cakes, and tasty salads and sandwiches.  Soooo…. wanna start, enjoy or have a good end to your day? Drop by at one of the 9 Coffeelovers subsidiaries in the Southern Netherlands and discover the true sense of coffee or tea! Even if you’re in a hurry, Coffeelovers makes sure you can enjoy it “to go”. And we will make sure you don’t have to miss out during the festival as Coffeelovers will pop-up at the SAMDecorfabriek.

MAASTRICHT: DOMINICANEN | PLEIN 1992 | THE ANNEX | CENTRE CÉRAMIQUE/AVENUE | SINT PIETER | UNIVERSITY | NIJMEGEN: MARIËNBURG | ROERMOND: HAMSTRAAT | EINDHOVEN: VAN PIERE

PS As for us, we wouldn't think twice about visiting Coffeelovers located in the heavenly ambience of the beautiful 700-year-old former Dominicanen church. Home to an amazing bookshop, proclaimed by the Guardian newspaper as ‘possibly the most beautiful bookshop of all time’. Sit back and enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea surrounded by thousands of books and cast your eye over the centuries-old frescos. We advise everyone coming to Maastricht and the festival to not miss out on Coffeelovers Dominicanen. Pure heaven for all your senses!

#COFFEE BREAK - SUNDAY We will be sharing a Coffee Break Story almost every Sunday as of the 4th of June! 5 Local designers who are part of FabricAge and some of whom will also be present during FASHIONCLASH Festival will be sharing their “cup of inspiration” and “what tickles their fashion senses” with you. Find out what you can expect from Maarten van Mulken and Ebby Port during FabricAge and FASHIONCLASH Festival 2017, why “fashion makes sense” through the eyes of Verena Klein and Jolijn Fiddelaers, and what’s the favourite coffee table book of Suzanne Vaessen from STRIKKS!
