New Fashion Narratives takes place at Bureau Europa and presents an exhibition curated by Jamal Nxedlana, Karmen Samson, Welmoed Bosch and Agatha Prieto Jeanty. Under the title ‘Fleshy, slimy, wobbly’, the exhibition brings together fashion practices that resist easy categorisation and move between forms, materials and disciplines.
The curatorial concept is developed during a Residency Week in April 2026, where the four fashion practitioners explore ways to challenge dominant systems within the fashion industry and create space for shapeshifting practices that escape fixed labels. The exhibition looks at fashion from a more fluid and unruly perspective, bringing together work that leaks, mutates and refuses to stay within familiar boundaries.
At Bureau Europa, visitors encounter a collection of practices that question what fashion can be, where it belongs and how it can take shape. New Fashion Narratives offers a tangible and unconventional exploration of fashion that is difficult to pin down — and all the more fascinating because of it.

"We tear up archive photos, put on mother's dresses and ignore father's gaze.” From scraps of photos, textiles and clippings, Paul van de Waterlaat and Haiko Sleumer create collages, quilts and deepfakes. They bring a performance lecture about secretly wanting to wear dresses as a boy while they cut up the past, until it fits.

What happens when Maastricht’s history gets a new outfit?
For ‘Sterren van de stad’ (Stars of the City), local heroes from Maastricht were paired with local designers, who translated their stories, character and significance into contemporary designs. From historical figures and artists to inventors and local icons. These are not historical reconstructions, but personal interpretations that show how fashion can offer a new way of looking at a city and its history.

Once again, the Amarte Fund and FASHIONCLASH join forces to give artists from different disciplines the opportunity to experiment with fashion and develop new work. Following an open call, artists are paired with fashion designers to create new collaborations that bring together different artistic practices.
This year’s collaborations are presented through live performances and installations, bringing fashion into dialogue with other disciplines and forms of expression. The programme features Hsin Min Chan× Pauline Blind, Arian Soltan × Peishan Xu and Anto López Espinosa × Berend Brus, with Mira Verhoeve also joining the location with a performance.
Discover how these collaborations explore new connections between fashion and other artistic disciplines, presented as part of the FASHIONCLASH Festival programme.

Galerie Post + García
-
Located in Maastricht’s Céramique district, Galerie Post + García is a gallery for international contemporary art, presenting a diverse range of established and emerging artists. During FASHIONCLASH Festival, the gallery opens its space to the distinctive world of Amsterdam-based fashion studio Teigetje&Woelrat.
With a practice spanning more than 50 years, Teigetje&Woelrat moves between tradition and experimentation. Knitwear lies at the heart of their work, combined with leather, bold colours, geometric patterns and expressive shapes. Working from thread to finished garment, the studio creates every piece themselves, with craftsmanship and hands-on making at the core.
For FASHIONCLASH, Teigetje&Woelrat Collection explores the space between contemporary fashion and the playful, extravagant spirit of carnival. A colourful and tactile collection where knitwear, leather and bold gestures come together.

Townhouse Hotel
-
At Townhouse Hotel, FASHIONCLASH presents the work of Dutch fashion designer Ruben Jurriën. His practice explores fashion as a space for play, freedom and connection, inspired by the perspective and imagination of the inner child.
His work also challenges conventional ideas of sizing. Ruben develops size adjustable garments, designing fashion that adapts to different bodies rather than asking bodies to adapt to fixed sizes.
His exhibition, Maak Nederland weer Gezellig!, reimagines traditional Dutch dress through a contemporary and playful lens. It celebrates gezelligheid as an act of kindness, empathy and connection, imagining a world where it belongs to everyone.
On Saturday 14 November, 15:00–16:00, Ruben will talk about his work, his approach to fashion and the ideas behind his innovative approach to sizing.
