Become a volunteer at FASHIONCLASH Festival

Our office manager Miep is recruiting for volunteers! Being a volunteer at FASHIONCLASH Festival (25 -27 November 2022) is a great way to experience the festival, meet new people and make new friends. In the spirit of our community, Miep invites you to sign up as a volunteer and join the FASHIONCLASH Family!

The FASHIONCLASH Festival 2022 campaign

We are pleased to release the official campaign for the 14th edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival (25-27 November 2022)! As opposed to the previous editions of our festival campaigns, this year’s campaign is created inhouse by team FASHIONCLASH itself.

Driven by the spirit of the FASHIONCLASH community – from volunteers to coaches to performers – this campaign is centered around the people who have played an important part in the existence and development of FASHIONCLASH Festival, going back to the early start in 2009. Needless to say, these people represent a bigger group of people.

Each individual is captured in a surreal locker room where they prepare themselves for the next game – the 14th edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival! Even though wearing a uniform, each individual is encouraged to portray their own identity in the image. FASHIONCLASH stimulates and empowers the creation of personal identity and strongly supports the uniqueness of each individual.

Giovanni has been a performative coach for many participants of The Clash House for years and will be standing on the sidelines again this year! “As a coach you actually spend a lot of time talking and trying to envision together with the designer you work with. The moment it really comes together is always magical. But last year, during TEUN’s show, everything came together at once - with the story and the outfits... We were all crying - that was really beautiful.”

Tiel has been a participant and volunteer in many FASHIONCLASH projects over the years and has become a true supporter of all of FASHIONCLASH’s endeavors. One of her favorite projects was FabricAge, a community project in which the techniques of textiles received extra attention. “It had a very connecting effect. It was held in the library where the techniques of weaving, embroidery and knitting were practiced. The great thing was the connection of all the people who could walk in without the fear of doing something wrong. That is always so important to me - how do you get people to be open and free, if they don't already know beforehand that they can do something wrong. That openness is also very important to FASHIONCLASH.”

Nieke experienced FASHIONCLASH Festival from various angles - as a participant when she was part of the MAFAD graduation show and eventually as a volunteer and employee. “My favorite memory is actually the backstage vibe before it's showtime. Everyone is so positive and creative and mostly looking forward to the show!”

Inspired by club fandom and club culture, with a strong reference to the sports world, we also designed our own FASHIONCLASH Festival merchandise - a scarf and a pair of socks - in collaboration with KNITWEAR LAB and VODDE.

In the coming months, this concept will be integrated in various multimedia expressions and program components surrounding FASHIONCLASH Festival.

To each and every member of the FASHIONCLASH community – you know who you are - we want to say; thank you for your ongoing support and your effort!

Open Call for FASHIONCLASH Festival #14

FASHIONCLASH Festival is all about discovering, stimulating and co-shaping the current developments in fashion and unlocking these developments to a wide audience. The 14th edition of the festival takes place 25-27 November 2022 in Maastricht.

*The Open Call is closed*

FASHIONCLASH Festival functions as a platform for designers, as well as a cultural manifestation where the role of fashion in the context of society is questioned and fashion is used to raise awareness. Using the art of fashion design, we dissect the changing awareness around our relationship with our environment and urgent issues to create new narratives and approaches around the subject of fashion. The program reflects the spirit of the world through the art of fashion; an eclectic clash of visions, stories and styles from an outspoken and avant-garde new generation of designers. Participants of the festival belong to a generation of designers and artists who explore and question the boundaries of their discipline. With their works they move between the transdisciplinary domains of fashion, social design and visual arts.

In the footsteps of the last edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival, the upcoming edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival 2022 will be a hybrid edition, a combination of both physical and digital events. In the past two editions, FASHIONCLASH experienced many benefits working with digital media and sees experimenting with digitalization as the future.

Submissions should be applied before Friday 1st of July 2022.
