TexTiles
Wat betekent Europa voor jou?
NL:
What does Europe mean to you? With this question, FASHIONCLASH invited hundreds of participants from Maastricht, across the Netherlands and beyond to translate their personal stories, memories, dreams and visions of the future into textiles.
Each participant created a 40 x 40 cm textile tile. Together, these individual contributions form a monumental collective artwork, first unveiled in its entirety during the TexTiles BlockParty at Plein 1992. A contemporary and human interpretation of Europe, shaped by the stories and perspectives of the people who live in it.
The project is inspired by the Treaty of Maastricht, signed at the same location in 1992. Where the treaty marked a historic step towards a united Europe, TexTiles approaches Europe from a different perspective in 2026: by literally weaving together stories, ideas and perspectives.
During the Fashion Make Sense exhibition at Centre Céramique , you can discover the monumental TexTiles artwork, the outfits from the ‘EUROPE BUT FASHION’ performance and the aftermovie of the TexTiles BlockParty.
