Les Belles Entravées

Aurore Montagner seeks to understand fashion as a space for storytelling, collective imagination, and social exchange. Interested in the relationship between clothing, identity, memory, and place, she creates fashion that moves beyond the garment as an isolated piece of clothing, opening fashion towards other disciplines, voices, and forms of expression.

‘Les Belles Entravées’ is an interactive fashion project created with imprisoned women at Rennes Prison. Through drawings, collages, writing, and conversation, the participants collectively imagined a wardrobe shaped by their ideas of freedom, escape, and the outside world. As their drawings became garments, prints, and materials, other fragments were translated into embroidery and installations. The resulting collection challenges conventional ideas of authorship and explores how fashion can create space for imagination.
