Knotty Chinoise

Together, Liew&Wang is an interdisciplinary design duo working with fashion, textiles, and spatial forms. As a Chinese-Dutch duo with a background in Dutch fashion design, they explore material dialogues through tactility and research, bringing together Western and Eastern cultural perspectives to open up new conversations. 

‘Knotty Chinoise’ is a series of conceptual objects based on traditional Chinese knotting techniques and material studies. The object unfolds in three layers: First, a series of conceptual knots made from unconventional materials. Second, a playful camouflage questioning the idea of primary colours. And finally, a large-scale Chinese knot structure functioning as a room divider, situated between accessory and structure.
