Aron Saxe

you might need to sit for this

Aron Saxe is an artist and custom designer whose practice begins with people. Through close observation and exchange, he interprets the character and experiences of those he works with through clothing, bringing a person’s spirit into physical form.

His practice developed through designing custom clothing for underground music and club culture and has grown into larger artistic projects. His performances and installations are an elaborate form of this everyday practice: making something specifically for someone, then exploring what happens when it is worn, inhabited, and performed. Collaboration is central to his process, allowing the stories and presence of those he works with to shape what is made.

‘you might need to sit for this’ began with six trans men exploring a personal memory and the emotions held within it during a moment of transition. Through sensitive writing workshops, these private experiences were given physical form.

A year later, the six participants return to the work. What happens when you meet an emotion again, after time has changed you? The original material becomes a point of departure rather than a fixed portrait, asking each person to consider what has shifted, what remains, and who they have become since.
