Dies van Herk

untitled02

Dies is an interdisciplinary maker. In her work, she explores human existence on Earth. From a philosophical and intuitive perspective, she seeks to understand what it means to be human, both in a general sense and through her own personal experience.

She senses a loss of humanity in our current society. Although she does not know exactly what it means to be human, she does feel that something is missing. Through an attentive, vulnerable, and intuitive approach, she explores the ways in which we relate to ourselves, to one another, and to the world around us.

Her aim is not to provide answers, but rather to allow questions to emerge and to create space for reflection and awareness.

This performance emerged from a sense of missing humanity in an increasingly individualistic and externally focused society. We constantly seek validation, perfection, and belonging outside ourselves, gradually losing connection with who we are and with others. This performance explores how these pressures can feed the ego, create distance, and limit our freedom of movement and expression.

Metal represents the coldness and restrictiveness of this external world, contrasting with the warmth and organic nature of the human body. Through this contrast, the performance invites reflection on authenticity, connection, and the value of looking inward.
